Located in the heart of France on the romantic La Petite Creuse river, Moulin de Sardeix lies at the foot of a secluded green valley. The winding country road leading to the house ends in a “cul-de sac” (dead-end street). There is no through traffic, making the country house very quiet. An oasis of peace, nature and beauty!
The property still bears the name of the mill but it burned down in 1948. The beautiful and stately building, built of natural stone more than 200 years ago, is just 50m from the babbling river. The owner of this pre-Napoleonic estate has lifetime rights of use of the river.
The estate boasts 3.2 hectares of beautiful nature reserve and 1.2 km of private river frontage. The river is ideal for fly-fishing. In summer, you can cool off in the river or take a trip in the rowing boat or canoe available on the estate.
All rooms have electric heating and modern facilities, including Internet. Air conditioning is not necessary as the natural rock keeps the house cool in summer.
There is a nice large terrace that extends against the river, with a shaded summer kitchen with built-in pizza oven and barbecue.
There is a wide range of possibilities on the estate itself, but if you still want to seek out the pleasant hustle and bustle, the towns of Guéret, Aigurande, Argenton, Eguzon, La Souterraine, Gargilesse, La Châtre, Dun-Le-Palestel, Boussac, etc. are a short distance away. Besides the many large lakes with crystal-clear water for swimming and fishing, there is a multitude of beautiful, old villages, churches, castles, as well as golf, tennis, and horse-riding facilities.
As the mill house is located in central France, major cities are easy to reach. Limoges Airport is an hour’s drive away, and the next largest city Châteauroux has a non-stop train connection to Paris.
There is an Intermarché in Aigurande, Dun-Le-Palestel and Bonnat just a 20-minute drive away.

An atmospheric loft with a beautiful living space, private kitchen and bathroom and a terrace with garden furniture in front of the river. The sun-drenched loft has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and nature reserve.
The original miller’s cottage of 2 floors consisting of 2 bedrooms, private bathroom, living space, a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The living room has a beautiful authentic fireplace which you may use with the wood from the estate.
After a busy career as an interior designer, I want to realise our dream together with my wife Karien. Less hectic and more quality of life in inspiring surroundings like the beautiful region “the Creuse”. Thus grew the idea of turning the concepts of home and France around. With only 650 km between the two, we stay relatively close to the children and grandchildren, to combine the best of those 2 worlds. We don’t want to sacrifice our health to earn more money, only to have to use the money to cure our health, only to worry about the future again, forgetting to live in the meantime, and then dying without having lived!
A quiet and simple life gives more oxygen, and nature and silence are the best medicine, it gives us more peace and insight and quality.
All these considerations helped us decide to invest in the historic Moulin De Sardeix estate.
We fell like a log for the charms of the house and the river. This location totally meets our philosophy. The restoration and refurbishment of the mill house has become our joint project in which my wife and I can bring together our different talents. My wife Karien is also into healthy orthomolecular nutrition, playing the piano and welcoming the numerous guests. We would like to share this beautiful house and domain with nature reserve with others, that way we can get to know new people and give them a nice time. Le Moulin De Sardeix is the perfect place for those who want to spend a few days lazily enjoying the peace, space and natural beauty of a picturesque and romantic estate. Besides the quiet enjoyers, experienced cyclists, hikers and motorcyclists can also get their money’s worth.
